At NBC we have a Minister and a group of elected deacons who form our Leadership Team.

The role of the minister can include lots of different things. At its heart however, is a calling to pray for and minister to God’s people, so that they may grow and flourish in their faith; and to encourage and enable the church to be a blessing to its community.  The minister works with the deacons and the Church Meeting to help us discern what God is saying, and the direction Jesus is leading us as a church.

The word ‘deacon’ is found in the New Testament several times, as the early church begins to develop and work out ways of organising itself. You can read about deacons in 1 Timothy 3, Acts 6 and Titus 1.  Our deacons each have specific areas of responsibility.  

Together they are also our legal charity trustees, and ensure the church fulfils its responsibilities as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
